Violin/Viola/Cello/Bass Sizing

How to measure your child to find out the correct size violin, viola, cello or bass!

Most students in 4th and 5th grade require a 1/2 size or 3/4 size violin or a 12 inch or 13 inch viola but it all depends on arm length.

Cello, most students require a 1/2 or 3/4 size cello. Bass, we only have 1/4 size basses here at SNIS.

Violin, Viola Sizing

 Make sure the arm is somewhat relaxed. 

Cello Sizing

 Make sure the fingers of the left hand are comfortably separated.

Double Bass Sizing

Make sure to stand straight and measure top of the head to the floor.
