About Robert

At the end of the 2000 school year, Bob retired as a music educator from the Ferndale School District.  He and his wife Betty had daughters Brenda, Beverly, Becky and Bobbi, and sons Brian, Brent and Brandon.  During the 1970's Bob and his five children had a Dixieland jazz band called "All That Jazz" that played for churches, senior centers and nursing homes.

Today, his family is comprised of wife Marit, their sons and daughters, many grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Bob and his three of his sons now have a dance band called “Stormy Sea” and the four daughters can perform with it as a vocal quartet called ‘The Gales”.  Together, they are called “Stormy Sea and the Gales”.

Bob’s hobbies, mostly musical ones; include performing with various local jazz bands, performing as a soloist with community bands and school concert bands, arranging and composing music.  He has a side business also called “Meet a Composer” in which he gives clinics on music composition to school students.

As a composer he has had three pieces published by Macie Publishing Co. and now has most of his works published by PDF Band Music.  In  2008, he achieved a personal goal of entering five hundred songs into copyright. In 2015 the total had risen to nearly 1100 and are contained in his personal fake book collection known as Tunes From Toneville.  Another book of 100 songs is due out near the end of 2017.  A new band composition, Fiesta Brava, appears on the home page.  It can be played in its entirety by clicking on the play button.  Also new in 2017, is a new band piece called "Giddyap" that portrays an unexpectedly exciting buggy ride in 1910. Bob wrote it  in the style of Leroy Anderson, one of America's most well-known instrumental composers.

Both of those compositions are currently available via Pepper Music's My Score Publishing.
