ENCOURAGE:
- Independence, not dependence by allowing students to make decisions for themselves.
- Provide students with choices, in color shape, subject matter and placement.
- Allow students to practice, make mistakes and try again.
- Model for students on a separate sheet of paper, never draw on their work.
- Never redo or revise something a student did and label it as their work it negatively impacts their artistic development and confidence.
- Recognize and praise their efforts when motivating students to work during class, when they are doing well and having fun they will want to do more.
- It is okay if their project doesn't reach completion, learning also happens during the process.
