Library Services
Library Cards
Library cards are FREE and they allow you to borrow materials, use public computers, and access some library databases remotely.
Library cards are available to residents of Griswold and Lisbon ages five (5) and older. A CT Driver's License or other picture ID (state employee ID, student ID, Passport) with your Griswold/Lisbon address and a piece of mail with the same address is required to obtain an adult library card A parent/guardian is required to approve a child's library card.
Borrowing privileges:
Ages 5-13: three (3) books
Ages-14-17: five (5) books
Ages 18+: ten (10) items, two (2) of which can be DVDs
Loan periods:
DVDs: one (1) week
New Releases (books): two (2) weeks
Books: three (3) weeks
Additional information:
There is a $3.00 charge to replace lost library cards.
Overdue fines are no longer collected, however, patrons who have lost materials will be charged the cost of replacement.
Borrowing privileges are suspended when a patron owes a balance of $5.00 or more.
Griswold Library cards are valid across the State of Connecticut.

researchIT CT is the Connecticut State Library’s FREE research engine for use by libraries, schools, faculty, students, and residents throughout the state.
E-Books & Audiobooks
We offer eBooks and audiobooks through the Libby app and the Palace Project app, free with your library card. Read or listen to books on phones, tablets, computers, and eReaders (i.e. Kindle).

Accessible Books
Slater Library is now a hub for the Connecticut Library for Accessible Books. The Connecticut Library for Accessible Books (CT LAB) lends books and magazines in audio and braille formats, for free, to any Connecticut resident who is unable to read regular print due to a visual, reading, or physical disability. Readers register with CT LAB and materials are delivered to individuals via U.S. mail or are downloaded by patrons to their personal computers and mobile devices. The NLS collection includes nonfiction, fiction, bestsellers, magazines, and the NLS music section for patrons of all ages in various languages.
Slater Library offers demonstrations on the Audio Playback machine offered by the CT Library for Accessible Books. We can also assist in filling out the Application for Free Library Services (for Individuals) and sign the application as a certifying authority. Technology Services:
Clear View Magnifier
Do you have difficulty reading small print in newspapers, magazines, and books? Slater Library has an easy-to-use magnifier located conveniently in our front reading room.
CD/DVD Cleaning Service
Slater Library has a disc cleaning service, that for $2.00 per disc, will bring your DVD's and CD's back to life. This service is available while you wait as time allows.
Computers
Eight (8) desktop computers are available for use on a first-come, first-served basis in our adult area.
Three (3) computers are available to children in our Children's area downstairs.
Copies
Copies can be made on our black and white copier for $0.25 per page. Color pages may be printed from one of our computers at $0.40 per page.
Fax Services
Fax services are available for $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for additional pages.
Scanning Services
Scanning is available at no charge and is located in the adult computer area.
