Students should be aiming towards walking 10,000 steps per day and being physically active for 60 minutes per day. Here are a few activity ideas/suggestions students could do outside of school to help them achieve this goal.

- Balloon Badminton
- Indoor/Outdoor Hopscotch
- Create an obstacle course
- Playing catch
- Help with gardening
- Use TV commercials to be active (ex. 20 jumping jacks; 5 push-ups; 5 curl ups; stretch for 5 minutes)
- Grab a friend and challenge them to walk a little farther each day
- Take the stairs instead of an elevator
- Have a relay race
- Family contest like who can jump rope the longest
- Touch football party
- Visit a swimming park
- Fly a kite on a grassy field or beach
- Miniature golf
- Potato sack races
- Talk about physical activity as a fun lifelong way to take care of your body and balance your food and energy, rather than viewing it as a chore
- Practice Your Cartwheels
- Walk like a spider.
- Hop like a bunny.
- Go to the park; play on the jungle gym
- Stretching

- Ice skating party
- Celebrate accomplishments with fun activities instead of food or extra TV time
