Wednesday, March 18, at 9am, the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security will hold a hybrid hearing on The Protect Act (HD5158), a bill that would protect immigrants’ access to courthouses, schools, hospitals, and places of worship, create statewide standards for due process, limit state and local involvement in federal civil immigration enforcement, and strengthen rights, protections, and safeguards for detainees.
Thursday, March 26, 7pm-8pm, LUCE Immigrant Justice Hotline will hold a virtual fundraising event featuring Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and Attorney General Andrea Campbell.
Saturday, March 28, 10am-11am, a No Kings stand-out on Shutesbury Town Common and 1pm-2:30pm, a No Kings rally on the Amherst Town Common, co-sponsored by the Shutesbury Democratic Town Committee.
Governor Maura Healey and Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell have released a reporting form for members of the public to report potentially unlawful action or misconduct by ICE or other federal agents enforcing immigration laws.
