The mission of the Sheridan Public Library is to provide efficient library service to all residents of our community, to encourage wholesome recreation and constructive use of leisure time, to encourage and assist individuals in the pursuit of knowledge, to inspire creativity and thought, and to select materials which will help meet the educational, informational, economic and recreational needs of all the people served by the Library.
Goal 1 - Maintain collection and equipment to support the community’s needs.
1 Develop collection management policy.
2 Develop maintenance/replacement plan for computers and equipment.
3 Open archive and develop archival policies.
Goal 2 - Maintain space and place needed to provide the services in a safe accessible and welcoming manner.
1 Develop maintenance/replacement plan for facility.
2 Develop facility use and patron policies.
3 De-clutter the Library.
Goal 3 - Support staff and board development in performing their roles effectively.
1 Provide Board training.
2 Provide Director training.
3 Provide Staff and Volunteer training.
4 Investigate Archival training.
Goal 4 - Develop and implement a communications program to keep patrons partners and the public informed of library services and programming.
1 Develop publicity procedures.
2 Develop community partnerships.
3 Develop donations program.
Goal 5 - Support an active friends of the library organization.
1 Assist in reorganization of the Friends.
2 Coordinate with the Friends on Library Outreach and Programming.
3 Coordinate with the Friends on Fundraising for the Library.
4 Coordinate with volunteers from the Friends for special projects or for in-Library service.
