AwareNet

AwareNet was aimed to be a social interaction forum primarily aimed at bringing together Non-Governmental Organizations, Volunteers, Donors and Vendors under a common umbrella where they can interact with one another and easily find whatever they are looking for. The end goal being speeding up welfare operations by connecting like minded people together.

In addition to being a social forum, the concept of AwareNet relied on mathematical tools inspired by graph theory to track user groups and their activities. Based on communication between a group AwareNet can assign a level of confidence (so to speak) to each group (or individual member). This was aimed at helping new registrants to quickly figure out which group they wanted to join or ask help from (e.g. if people in a particular region sought help from a relatively inactive group, they might end up not getting the help they need).

The AwareNet team consisted of three people who are Krishna R.V. and Yamini G. (graduate students at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago at the time i.e. year 2010) and myself.

Project status: Inactive

As of 2012, the AwareNet servers are offline and the trio are not actively working on it. However, we do not intend to let the concept fade away and will keep thinking about new and useful ways to implement our idea (or modify it or change it completely) in better ways for different situations. If you wish to help us get it back online, please contact me.
