Swasti Gupta-Mukherjee is Senior Research Fellow at Washington University in St. Louis' Social Policy Institute and Professor of Finance at Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business (QSB). Her primary research area is empirical investments, with a particular focus on the functioning of capital markets. Some of her research also focuses on the role of financial analysts as information intermediaries in capital markets and asset pricing. A significant focus of her works-in-progress in academic research, thought leadership, public speaking and teaching is on the link between sustainable development goals (economic, environmental, social), the risk-return relationship, incentives and outcomes in financial markets, and the relationship between financial systems and society. Dr. Gupta-Mukherjee has published her research and commentary in academic journals, thought leadership outlets, and as a book chapter. She serves as a reviewer for numerous academic journals and conferences, and currently serves on the editorial boards of two peer-reviewed academic journals. Dr. Gupta-Mukherjee received the Aspen Institute 2021 Ideas Worth Teaching Award for her course "Finance for a Sustainable World". She is also a recipient of Quinlan's Faculty Researcher of the Year and Graduate Teaching Excellence Awards. Dr. Gupta-Mukherjee teaches core and elective courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, with a focus on innovating the curriculum and pedagogy to integrate themes of sustainability and social impact into mainstream finance, and using technology to encourage student engagement and learning.
