JULY 2020
Technician/Lab Manager
Laboratory of Dr. David Butler
Neural Stem Cell Institute
The Butler lab at the Neural Stem Cell Institute is looking for recent college graduates who are interested in developing multidisciplinary skills in a research lab setting. If there are concerns about COVID-19, we have a reduced workforce overlap and we offer one-on-one training. We develop and screen bifunctional intracellular antibodies that specifically target and degrade misfolded proteins, associated with Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease. We implement various techniques to further investigate nervous system development, disease and repair that include: Western blots, qRT-PCR, cell culture, DNA/RNA prep, light/fluorescence microscopy, etc. Please send a cover letter and CV to: nsci-hr@neuralsci.org.

Technician/Lab Manager
Laboratory of Dr. Kristen Zuloaga
Albany Medical College
David, our lab manager, is leaving for medical school! We are looking for a motivated, organized, team player to take over his position.
Requirements: Candidates should have a B.S. in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, or a related discipline (M.S. preferred but not required) and prior research experience with rodents. As with all positions in the lab - a positive attitude is a must-have! Expertise and or background in dementia, sex differences, metabolic disease, or vascular dementia would be beneficial (but not required).
Applications should include CV (with GPA), contact information for three professional references, and a cover letter describing major achievements, technical skills, long-term career goals, and how you see your research interests fitting within the scope of our research program. Postdoctoral Research Associate
Laboratory of Dr. Margarida Barroso
Albany Medical College
The Laboratory of Dr. Margarida Barroso (@barrosolab) has several outstanding job opportunities for a post-doctoral research associate, graduate student and/or research technicians at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. The candidates will be part of a NIH-funded multidisciplinary research team, including biomedical engineers and oncology researchers. The candidates will investigate the role of early endosomal function, morphology and mitochondria interaction on the regulation of receptor-mediated signaling pathways and iron homeostasis in breast cancer. Moreover, the postdoctoral researcher will use 3D tumor systems to study the role of 3D cancer cell growth on the morphology and function of organelles and inter-organelle interactions. The post-doctoral researcher should have strong expertise in the field of cancer research (ex. signaling), organelle cell biology (ex. endosome and mitochondria) and molecular biology (ex. fluorescent fusion protein constructs).
Requirements for post-doctoral researcher:
- PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering, Physiology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or equivalent
- Interest in organelle cell biology in cancer
- Molecular biology skills
- Ability to interact with multidisciplinary team
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
Interested applicants should send their Curriculum Vitae, a letter of intent describing the motivations to apply for the position to the following emails addresses:

Postdoctoral Research Associate
Laboratory of Dr. Bijan K Dey
The RNA Institute, University at Albany
State University of New York (SUNY)
Research Focus: Non-coding RNAs, epigenetics, and epitranscriptomics in skeletal muscle stem cell biology, muscle development, and muscle degenerative diseases
The Dey Lab (https://www.rna.albany.edu/bijan-k-dey-lab/) at the RNA Institute of the State University of New York (SUNY), Albany is looking for a talented and motivated postdoc who will be working on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and American Heart Association (AHA) funded research projects. We study the function of non-coding RNAs and epigenetics in skeletal muscle stem cell biology, muscle development, and muscle degenerative diseases including Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). The successful applicant will use a variety of cutting edge molecular cell biology, stem cell biology, genetic and epigenetic techniques, and relevant mouse models to understand muscle physiology and pathophysiology at the cellular and molecular level. Our aim is to understand the fundamental molecular mechanism of muscle development and to devise innovative therapeutic and diagnostic platforms for DMD and related muscle degenerative diseases.
Ideal applicants should:
• Hold a PhD in molecular cell biology, developmental biology, molecular genetics, regenerative medicine, or related areas of biological sciences.
• Have a strong interest in muscle development and muscle degenerative diseases.
• Have experience in molecular cell biology, muscle physiology and mouse genetics (preferred).
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Be an enthusiastic and ambitious individual with a strong curiosity and a desire to learn.
• Have strong record of productivity and good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• The position is available immediately.
