2010 San Francisco Día de los niños/Día de los libros

at the San Francisco Main Library!

Join the fun with hands on activities for kids and families on both the Lower Level and in the Fisher Children’s Center on the 2nd floor, conducted by the following organizations:, Children’s Art Center; Crissy Field Center; Good Samaritan; Jumpstart/First 5; KQED; Mission YMCA; Nuestros Niños/Childhood Matters; Precita Eyes; SCRAP; Tree Frog Treks; Young Audiences of Northern California; and Zeum.

Children who participate in activities and attend performances are eligible to pick out a free book.

Families are invited to join us for an afternoon of children and books, featuring multicultural music, dance, storytelling, puppetry, art activities, and a book give away.

The Koret Auditorium will feature performances by:

Puppet Art Theater Company, presenting:

The 3 Billy Goats Gruff and The Tortoise and the Hare

Flute Sweet and Tickletoon, a New York based duo that combine storytelling, humor and music performing Green Golly & Her Golden Flute, which includes the music of Mozart, Mendelssohn, Chopin and others, as it plays off the familiar tale of Rapunzel

Imani’s Reality, featuring the younger children from the exciting youth Hip Hop performance group Imani’s Dream, who have been chosen multiple times to perform at the Ethnic Dance Festival.

Cascada de Flores, presenting a bilingual participatory program featuring an origin story of the diverse roots of traditional music and dance of Mexico, especially those of indigenous, Spanish and African cultures.
