English: How can internal architecture control stiffness, strength, fracture resistance, and deformation? We study the elasticity and fracture of bioinspired composites and extend these insights through multi-objective optimization and generative design under multiphysics constraints. Recent work also targets programmable materials whose stable states and energy landscapes can be tailored.
