Kirkwood AH&LA Student Chapter
After founding the Kirkwood AH&LA Student Chapter, Joe McInerney, President & CEO of
AH&LA, decided to visit the students and our new teaching hotel. I decided to plan
an event around his visit, inviting all of the area hoteliers.

Community Service Project
"Cans for Candy" was a food drive that I planned and managed for the
Kirkwood AH&LA Student Chapter. It was to help spotlight a visit from Alton Brown
and to promote awareness of local organizations. All proceeds were given to HACAP.

Planning A Downtown Festival
The Fire & Ice Festival was one of the main focuses of my internship with the
Cedar Rapids Downtown District. I was coordinator for the activities at Towne
Square, the 7th Annual Chili Challenge, and the Ugly Holiday Sweater Party. I also
was in charge of marketing these segments of the festival.
This is the schedule of events that I created for the Fire & Ice Festival. This was used
for everything from press releases to radio and print advertising.
An Unforgettable Education
Through my education at Kirkwood's teaching hotel, I've worked on dozens of
events. From the Grand Opening of the new facility to the One Year Anniversary,
every event held here was no less than world-class.
