Post-operation Instruction
First 3 days (the day of surgery is Day 0):
You can expect to feel completely normal immediately following the procedure, due to the advances in local anesthesia techniques.
A light dressing (gauze or bandage) will be placed over the donor area of your head (backside). Recipient hair transplant area will be left uncovered. You may put a cap or hood on your head as camouflage so please have anything to put on. Do not let anything touch the recipient hair transplant areas on the day of surgery.
On the first night, you may lie down on your back, don't worry about your donor sutured areas. Your head may be slightly elevated to prevent or diminish an edema (swelling) development on your fore head due to gravity. You may cover the pillow with 2-3 sheets of towel not to be wet with occasional small amount of bleeding from the suture site.
The light dressing over the donor area will be removed on the next day (Day 1). No extra care or treatment is necessary for the donor areas of the scalp. The light dressing on the donor area will be removed. Now, you may either put a hat on or leave it uncovered when you go outside.
We will provide any required prescriptions and/or drugs you may need during the post operative recovery. If you experience any further discomfort, you may take an additional over the counter mild pain-killer. If you are taking any medications prior to the surgery, you can continue to take them following the surgery.
Some patients may experience a slight edema (swelling) around forehead and the eyes usually on day 2, this may be improved in 2-3 days.
Rigorous physical exercise or sports activities in general may be started or resumed 10 days after the stitch removal from donor area..
Instructions for washing your hair and transplanted hairs on Day 3 through Day 14:
You may wash your hair on Day 3 after surgery. The goal of the washing is to clean the clots and crusts in the hair transplant (recipient) areas of the scalp. We provide shampoo service on day 1.
Washing your hair is a two step process involving moisturizing, and then gently shampooing the scalp. You should wash your scalp gently on the donor area, please don't use your nails. You may know this when you receive our shampoo service on day 1. Please shampoo gently until day 10. After day 10, the transplanted hairs are safely settle down so you may do anything on your scalp or hair.
There would be crusts on the scalp after day 10, do not remove them. Allow them to detach spontaneously. This usually occurs within 2 weeks.
