Brief about Bani Yas Investment & Development Co.

Bani was established in 2005 as a majority owned subsidiary of Bani Yas Sports Club. It is the investment and development arm of the Bani Yas club with its main activities focusing on investment, development and management of real estate projects.

Aiming to play a pivotal role in contributing to real estate development, BID will seek to adhere to the highest standards of integrity in its business dealings.

Currently, the company has an impressive pipeline of opportunities and projects including master planned communities, residential and commercial towers in the UAE with Bawabat Al Sharq representing the first of several pioneering plans to be publicized by BID in due time.

Bani Yas Investment and Development Company is pleased to introduce BAWABAT AL SHARQ, its AED2.2bn first, luxury, awe-inspiring, mixed-use development on 108 hectares of land, in one of the main suburban regions of Abu Dhabi, Bani Yas. This multi-use development will elevate Bani Yas’s leisure, commercial and tourism appeal.

Inspired by the enthusiastic ambitions and the sports spirits of Bani Yas Club and driven by the original heritage of Bani Yas people, granting Bani Yas an ideal community became a target. This mix-use development is designed to enhance Bani Yas leisure, commercial and tourism appeal.

Worth noting that BID will soon be revealing a residential tower (22 floors) in ِAbu Dhabi, with further details to be announced later on.

ADIAS is the acronym of the Abu Dhabi Islands Archaeological Survey, which was established in 1991 at the request of HH President Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and upon the invitation of HE Sheikh Nahyan b. Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education. Between then and 2006, it was responsible for investigating the archaeology, and later palaeontology, of the western coastal area and offshore islands of Abu Dhabi and also carried out work in the desert areas of Abu Dhabi's Western Region.

Operating under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Muhammad b. Zayed Al Nahyan, then Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, ADIAS undertook both field surveys and excavations, identifying several hundred previously unrecorded archaeological and fossil sites. Among them were several of major regional significance, including the UAE's oldest villages, on the islands of Marawah and Dalma, dating back to the Late Stone Age or Neolithic period, a pre-Islamic Christian monastery on the island of Sir Bani Yas, and the only sulphur mines in south-eastern Arabia, at Jebel Dhanna, which date to the Late Islamic period.

Corporate support for ADIAS came from a variety of sponsors, including ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), ADCO (Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations), ADPPOC (Abu Dhabi Ports Operating Company), Emirates Airlines and a variety of multinational corporations (e.g. BP, ICL).

ADIAS ceased fieldwork in Abu Dhabi in 2006, its responsibilities being transferred to the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, ADACH, but continues a programme of publication of results from its work.

The ADIAS Executive Director was Peter Hellyer, who is now archaeology expert for the National Media Council.
