Welcome to Spanish Class!
Expectativas Generales/ general expectations:
Spanish is an elective course; you are here because you chose to be here (great choice!). Please enjoy and be a part of class discussions. Being an active participant will make classes a lot more enjoyable for all of us (remember, we will have tons of oral activities).
Please, know in this classroom we respect everyone, so talk and behave accordingly.
Rutina:
As soon as you arrive turn off your cell phone, please.
Participation is key to this class. Take risks and participate. Have fun and sometimes laugh at yourself!
Students are expected to remain seated until the bell rings. Please, don’t line up or you will stay 2 extra minutes in class.
Food or drinks are not allowed in the classroom, except water.
Growth Mindset Classroom Philosophy:
1. Mistakes are welcome - it is part of the learning process. Mistakes help you learn.
2. Be resourceful - use the the learning tools we have: websites, dictionaries, tutoring program, retakes, games, etc.
3. Look for patterns - see how words are connected.
4. Do deliberate practice - when practicing, do your very best. Be mindful and have fun.
5. Self - assess and set goals - use feedback to improve. You are getting better every day.
6. Focus on communication - find opportunities to use the target language say things in Spanish, even outside school.
7. Provide honest feedback- when working with a partner, provide specific feedback so he/she can improve. Be kind and respectful.
8. Be resilient - don't give up or get frustrated, persevere! Find different ways to learn/practice concepts.
