Changes in Geographic Qualifiers for Corporate Bodies that have Relocated

When an authorized access point for a corporate body has a geographic qualifier and the body relocates to another place, the cataloger should construct a new authorized access point using as geographic qualifier the name of the body's new geographical home. The old authorized access point, in turn, becomes a variant access point. See LC-PCC PS 11.13.1.3.

Example (in MARC format):

Suppose there are several unrelated bodies called Petropavlovskiĭ khor and so there is need of a geographic addition to distinguish them from one another.

110 2 Petropavlovskiĭ khor (Chita, Chitinskai︠a︡ oblastʹ, Russia)

110 2 Petropavlovskiĭ khor (Tomsk, Russia)

110 2 Petropavlovskiĭ khor (Vladivostok, Russia)

If the 3rd one were to relocate to Ussuriĭsk (Russia), the authorized access point would change and the old authorized access point would become a variant access point:

110 2 Petropavlovskiĭ khor (Ussuriĭsk, Russia)

410 2 Petropavlovskiĭ khor (Vladivostok, Russia) ‡w nne

670 Vestnik Petropavlovskogo khora, mart 2013: ‡b p. 3 (founded in Vladivostok in 2010) p. 10 (relocated to a new facility in Ussuriĭsk in May 2012)
