NOCTURNES — Book One
Three individual solos for guitar by John Hayes —with distinctly nocturnal elements.
"The Three Nocturnes are a selection from a number of my miniatures. These singular pieces are born out of the customary imaginative, sometimes subconscious process of composing but only get categorised or named retrospectively after they have long been consummated, contemplated and comprehended."
2 pages of text
12 pages of music in staff notation, full fingering and guitar tablature.

CONTENTS
Lullaby, Opus 116 in E major, (3/4) was initially conceived as a prototype for the minuet in the tribute to Ravel but evolved in a romantic direction which made it less suitable for inclusion in the suite. It therefore stands alone as an inducement to contemplative relaxation.
Inn of the Colt, Opus 117 in E minor, (6/8) is named after the historic posada in Cordoba, Spain, the full name of which is “Inn of the Patio of the Colt”. This establishment was famous for its sherry and olives not to mention Flamenco parties and student gatherings. The music has appropriate Andalusian characteristics.
Pavilhão Chinês, Opus 118 in E minor, (3/8) is in remembrance of the famous café of Lisbon in Portugal. This so-called Chinese pavilion is unparalleled for its unique décor; the four main rooms and interconnecting corridors and alcoves are festooned with a accumulation of heterogeneous objets d'art collected from every corner of the planet.
Note: This volume is termed Book One because Book Two is anticipated.
