This is my 1971 Pontiac LeMans Sport convertible.
She was my first car, back when I turned 16. Actually, the car belonged to my dad back then, but since I needed a car and this one wasn't being used, I got to "borrow" her. Before long I noticed that the green convertible was a bit of a head turner, so I started restoring her. Most of my high school job money was spent bringing the car to factory fresh condition, inside and out. I entered her into a few car shows, earning second place in one of them.
When I graduated from high school, Mom convinced Dad that this would make a great graduation gift (since I had pretty much paid to restore or replace all the parts in her by then, anyway).
One of the things that make the car so unusual (besides that crazy Tropical Lime color) is the front end with rubber ("Endura") bumper and hood scoops. This package was standard on the Pontiac GTO, but the factory offered it as a little-known option for the LeMans in 1971. Back then, having a rubber bumper (as opposed to chrome) was pretty revolutionary, style-wise.
