Hobbies:
* Theater arts. I love set design, construction, and painting, as well as acting and directing. See some of the sets I've built for Seabrook Intermediate theater shows by clicking here or on "Theatrical Sets" in the navigation bar to the upper left. I also don’t mind getting out in front of the audience when needed (see "Aliases" earlier on this page). Whenever I'm not at Seabrook, I'm probably at Standing Ovation Theatre in Webster, overseeing all of their productions. Click here or see the "Theater" section in the navigation bar to the upper left for more details!
* Other hands-on creative outlets: artwork, model building, and crafting movie costume and prop replicas - most notably from Star Wars and Ghostbusters. (See costume/prop images and learn more here, or by clicking "Costuming" in the navigation bar to the upper left)
* Star Wars. I've been an avid fan since the first movie came out (1977), and have an entire room of my house devoted to the Star Wars toys I’ve collected ever since then. (See images and learn more here, or by clicking "Star Wars" in the navigation bar to the upper left)
* Classic-era musclecars, in particular Pontiacs from 1964-1974. I restored and own two Pontiac LeMans convertibles. (See images and learn more here, or by clicking "Automobiles" in the navigation bar to the upper left)
* Ice hockey. I was a big fan of the Houston Aeros hockey team (until they moved to another city), and I played hockey in a league at Space City Ice Station (until they closed it down).
* Board games. My current favorites: Gloomhaven, Mansions of Madness, and Axis and Allies.
* Beekeeping. My wife and I maintain two hives, in the Texas City area. See images and learn more here, or by clicking "Beekeeping" in the navigation bar to the upper left.
* Enjoying our backyard, either working on the landscaping or observing the critters we try to attract. Since we talk about those species so much in some of my classes, my students insisted that I take pictures and add them to my website. See those images here, or by clicking "Backyard Wildlife" in the navigation bar to the upper left.
* Environmentalism. I’m a firm believer in doing my part to keep this planet in as good a shape for as long a time as possible. Through all of my actions I strive to minimize my personal impact on the planet, to include following a vegetarian (near vegan) diet since college.
