Dear Tachibana Sensei,
I'm sorry for responding later than expected for the comments and a group picture. I only have a group picture with Kuratani Sensei from San Diego State University. Will this be okay?
Also, I feel that participating in the Japanese Speech Contest was an excellent thing for me to have done. With my classmate, Eddie Burkhalter, we felt the contest was going to be different then expected, but it was well put together. The event was the first time my family ever heard me speak Japanese; although they didn't understand a word, my expression showed the "Best Effort" I put forth that day. When I looked out into the audience, I imagined all my Japanese friends sitting during the event and listening to what I had to say. I felt fright at first but I came to the realization the stronger your knowledge of language is, the more you can connect to other people around the world. I'm glad to have studied Japanese and look forward to working in Japan.
I want to thank you for all your hard work to coordinate an event such as this.
おかげさまでありがとうございました。
Sincerely,
Dominico "Nico" Castillo
