12 lbs of hand picked treasures
from the Central Oregon Coast
The drum contains 12 lbs of agates
Opening the drum after the first course grind
Pouring the effluent out
The effluent is messy, but the agates must be carefully cleaned before proceeding to the next step
Each handful is rinsed
Beauties are beginning to emerge
Hmmmmm.......They don't get much better than that.
That's a keeper!!!
A close look shows a very nice example
The striations of this agate are impressive
After being rinsed several times, it is time to load the drum again
The rinsing jars are beginning to fill up
That completes filling the drum. A medium grit will be added along with water, and next week we'll repeat the process. A week later the results will sparkle!!!

The final polishing and burnishing is completed, and the gem-like stones are ready to come out of the polishing drum for the final time....
The lid comes off the polishing drum
The effluent is poured off
Then the polishing muck is washed off
And....the results begin to sparkle!
The camera fails to capture its beauty...
The next day, another 12 lbs of rough treasures will begin the process again!
