Figures

I love to paint people: portraits and figures. Painting the body is, for me, the royal road to growth in acceptance of our physical, bodily presence in this world. So much healing is possible, in my experience, on both sides of the easel. Nobody looks at bodies with more tender, loving care than artists: not lovers, not doctors, not anyone. In trying to understand, in the languages of light, shadow, hue, contour, and anatomical knowledge, how the body works, what it really is, we come to understand who we are. Who are we? Constant miracles. I swear the body gives off its own light.
