Why this training?

One essential work area and responsibility of Medical Affairs (MA) professionals is to understand the medical and scientific knowledge in the relevant Disease/Therapy Area, and communicate effectively with HCPs/KOLs to exchange information and develop insights. The larger purpose is to improve the “quality” of medical and scientific engagement, enhance credibility and scientific image for team and organization, and eventually help facilitate better care and outcomes through sound clinician- patient interactions. In this regard, one key identified MA competency, essential for MA success, is “Critical Appraisal of A Scientific Publication”. This program aims to help build and enhance this important MA competency.

Learning Approach And Methodology :

Professional Development will occur through participant-centered, Customized Learning Experiences (CLEs) through a variety of learning interactions and tools: knowledge and information sharing; individual and group exercises and presentations; learning material-related discussion and debate, critique, evaluation, and analysis. Where required and feasible, participants will be encouraged to co-relate the information / learning to real life situations and experiences through a “reflective learning approach.” There will also be a post-PDP assignment / action plan for participants.


Trainer's Profile : Dr. Aamir Shaikh

Dr. Aamir Shaikh, Founder Assansa, is an accomplished Health Care Consultant and Faculty, with over 20 years of experience and expertise in the areas of Health Care, Pharmaceutical Medicine, and Leadership. He began his career as a “Pharmaceutical Physician” in 1998 with Pfizer India’s Medical & Research Division. Over the next decade, he successfully delivered in positions of increasing responsibility and leadership, culminating in his role as Director, Medical Affairs & Research for Pfizer India. Aamir moved on in 2007 to found Assansa. Over the last decade, Dr Aamir has worked successfully with leading industry organizations including Pfizer, UCB, Amgen, DRL, Novartis, GSK, Takeda, Abbott, Astra Zeneca, Nestle, BMS, and Sanofi in the areas of Pharmaceutical Medicine, Medical/Clinical Research, Education & Practice and Leadership Development.

Dr Aamir’s ongoing purpose and endeavor is “Helping Health Care Professionals Grow.” He believes this can be achieved through an identified personal philosophy and mindset - one which embraces lifelong learning, and seeks alignment in the areas of knowledge, science, business and ethics.
