Click here for the Family Information (Packing List) Form which can be used for your group. This form has all the necessary information on what to bring as well as other information for parents. If you would like to use this form, all you need to do is to add the camp date and make any other relevant changes for your group.
The "Scouter-In-Charge" of each group must bring to the camp:
a copy of each youth's Medical & Emergency Contact Information (download from myscouts.ca);
a final copy of the Group's "Membership Report" printed from "myscouts.ca" showing that all youth are registered and "Active";
a copy of the Medical & Emergency Contact Information for each Scouter attending (download from myscouts.ca); and
a Physical Fitness Form For Non-Members for all non-member adults attending -parents/guardians (click here for the Physical Fitness Form for Non-Members).
a copy of the Emergency Response Plan (click here for the ERP).
This information is required in case of an emergency.
Please remember that in accordance with Scouts Canada's BP&P, all non-member parents/guardians attending this overnight camp must have taken the "Safe Scouting for Parents" course, signed the "Code of Conduct" and discussed their "Expectations" for this event. The Scouter-In-Charge of each group is responsible to ensure their parents/guardians have completed these requirements prior to arrival at Science World (any parent/guardian who has not completed these requirements will not be able to stay overnight at this camp).
When you bring your group to camp, please ensure that the entire group arrives well before the 6:00pm check-in on the day of the camp. It is best to plan on arriving early and gather your group outside the main entrance to Science World. If you are early, you can go for a nice walk on the seawall and enjoy the sites along the waterfront (including the original Olympic Village area).
Parking is also free but you must obtain a parking pass from either a volunteer Scout/Venturer located near the front of the building (wearing a reflective vest) or from an attendant just inside the main entrance.
Group Check-In starts at 6:00pm sharp. When your entire group has arrived, the "Scouter-In-Charge" can proceed through the main doors to the "Check-In Table" while their entire Group remains outside. At the check-in table, the Scouter-In-Charge must hand in a final copy of their myscouts membership listing showing that all youth attending are registered and are "Active" and also present their medical forms (Scouters will keep these forms with them during the camp). You will then be given the camp schedule and assigned a sleeping area.
Following your check-in, Scouters will be notified when they can bring their entire group into the building where they will receive a brief safety orientation. All baggage will then be taken to a storage room where it will be stored until bed time.
Then the FUN BEGINS!!! Half of the groups attending Science World will first go to the Science Theatre right away (on the 2nd floor of the building) for an official "Welcoming and a Movie". The second half of the groups attending will start enjoying all the exhibits in Science World. Then at approximately 8pm (an announcement will be made), the second half will go to the Science Theatre for the official "Welcoming and a Movie".
If a group has made a reservation for the Hamburger Dinner at Science World (see the REGISTRATION page to make a dinner reservation), the campers attending the dinner must arrive before 5:00pm. The group's dinner Leader-In-Charge must come into the building upon arrival to obtain a "dinner ordering summary sheet" from the Scouts Science World Coordinator which needs to be filled out with the group's dinner order.
Starting at 5:00pm and once everyone in your group has arrived, the Scouter-In-Charge of the dinner for your group will enter the building and let the Scouts Science World Coordinator know that the group is all present and ready for dinner (and that the dinner ordering summary sheet has been filled out). The group will then enter the building and take their baggage to a storage room and proceed to the restaurant. Note that anyone in the group who does not attend the hamburger dinner must wait outside until the 6:00pm check-in time.
In the restaurant, the entire group should find seats and only the Scouter-In-Charge will go up to the restaurant cashier to order the number of youth hamburgers, adult hamburgers, youth vegetarian burgers and adult vegetarian burgers that are needed for the group. A single payment will then be made by the Scouter-In-Charge at this time for the entire meal (cash, credit card or Group cheque). Meals can be ordered up to 5:45pm. If you arrive after 5:45pm, the restaurant will be closed and you will not be able to get a meal.
Remember, any campers who do not have dinner reservations must wait outside the front entrance of the building until the 6:00pm check-in time.
All campers must exit the building by 8:30am the next morning.
