Archers

If "The Archers" is supposed to reflect present day farm life, why has there been no mention of the possible abolition of the AWB? After all, following suggestions from ourselves about the appalling fatalities in British farming, John Archer was killed in a fatal tractor accident a few months later.

We have heard that the Editor says:"It is a good idea, but work is so far in advance that they won't be able to cover it in time - sorry!"

Now we are not suggesting that anything so tragic should befall any of the other characters, but can we work out a possible plot line that presents the case? Rather than rant on that they should 'do something', let's work out who would be involved...

First, find a permanent farm worker. Jazzer? There are some migrant Polish workers with Adam. What would he say?). There are enough farmers, like David, who could mouth the NFU line. Do any of the farmers - Ruth (now that the herdsman has gone!),Tony or Brian have permanent farmworkers?

Still we could start a plot line down the Bull, when somebody comes in saying they have got to look up their 'Industrial Relations. No not their cousins, but all the laws and proper ways to "NEGOTIATE" (you can hear Eddie his mouth round that word). Or perhaps somebody should do some bellringing to mourne for the death of the AWB...more ideas please
