Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to be a "teacher". When my friends were deciding what they wanted to do as sophomores and juniors in high school, my mind was already made up. I graduated from St. Francis High School in St. Francis, MN in June of 2008. That summer I made the trek to Moorhead for my first time when I moved to attend Concordia College and major in Elementary Education; and I never looked back.
I had the opportunity to travel abroad in May of 2010 with a handful of other Elementary Education majors. During this time, traveling from Denmark to Norway to England and Iceland, my desire to teach grew further. My eyes were open to the idea of, someday, taking the step into a leadership role.
After graduating from Concordia College in December of 2011, I begin subbing before accepting my first teaching role at a Christian preschool in Bemidji, MN. During my years at the preschool I graduated with my Masters in Education; Elementary Reading and Mathematics in May of 2014. In August of 2014 I was offered a position within ISD 31 as a kindergarten teacher.
With the help of my husband, my children, and desire to continue my passion of being a life long learner I decided to take the first step into my ultimate goal of educational leadership and apply to MSUM's K-12 Principal program in May of 2018.
The opportunity to become a school leader means making a positive impact on a large number of students, staff, and community. Being a school leader means leading a team, and together finding what it means to become successful.
I am excited for the opportunity to grow relationships with professional educators to help make our students prepared to make positive impacts on the world around us. Our students today, are our future tomorrow!
My husband and 2 children currently reside in Bemidji, MN. We are on this journey together, as a family. We are excited to see where this opportunity can lead us!
