Along with my collaborators and students, I have developed web-based systems for various practical tasks. Below is a list of some of the systems developed by us (in roughly reverse chronological order).
Message Check -- System to verify the authenticiy of a textual message or social media post or image. Developed in collaboration with Vishvas News.
The following systems were developed over the Twitter platform, using the Twitter API. The systems are no longer functional due to substantial changes in the Twitter API, including the API becoming chargeable.
NARMADA (Needs and Available Resource Managing Assistant for Disasters and Adversities) -- system for identifying resource-needs and resource-availabilities in a disaster situation from Twitter, and for suggesting how to match the needs with the availabilities. Supporting publication: NARMADA: Need and Available Resource Managing Assistant for Disasters and Adversities. ACL Workshop on Natural Language Processing for Social Media, 2020
What-is-Happening -- search system for real-time content on specific topics from Twitter. Supporting publication: On the Wisdom of Experts vs. Crowds: Discovering Trustworthy Topical News in Microblogs. ACM Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing (CSCW), 2016.
Footprint -- system to identify one's digital footprint on Twitter, i.e., to understand what information other users are leaking about oneself. Supporting publication: Forgetting in Social Media: Understanding and Controlling Longitudinal Exposure of Socially Shared Data. USENIX Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security (SOUPS), 2016.
Infodiets -- system to measure what information various Twitter users are producing and consuming. Supporting publication: Characterizing Information Diets of Social Media Users. AAAI International Conference on Weblogs and Social Media (ICWSM), 2015.
Who-likes-What -- system for inferring topics of interest of Twitter users. Supporting publication: Inferring User Interests in the Twitter Social Network. ACM Conference on Recommender Systems (RecSys), 2014.
Cognos -- search system for experts on specific topics from Twitter. Supporting publication: Cognos: Crowdsourcing Search for Topic Experts in Microblogs. ACM SIGIR International Conference, 2012.
Who-is-Who -- system for inferring topics of expertise of Twitter users. Supporting publication: Inferring Who-is-Who in the Twitter Social Network. ACM Computer Communication Review, vol. 42, issue 4, 2012.
