‘Glimpses’- exhibition of paintings
A senior artist from Pune, Mrs. Shobha Patki, is having exhibition of her paintings and murals at Ravi Paranjpe Art Gallery, Pune from 1st October to 5th October 2017 along with her talented cousin Artist Neela Anand. In this exhibition together they give us paintings from the Madhubani and Chitrakathi styles.
The 73 year old Artist experienced a disaster on 14th July 2015 when she lost almost all the collection of her paintings in a fire at her studio! Since then she enthusiastically worked on her new creations in her unique style to give “Glimpses”.
Shobha is a multifaceted personality. The deep, mysterious pool of tradition and mythology, the nature’s myriad poses, are her inspiration. Along with oil and enamel, plaster and clay, epoxy and jute, resin and metal …these disparate materials are her playthings. Her inner eye, inexhaustible curiosity and insatiable thirst for innovation have been her constant companions as she follows the endless trail of creativity.
With more than 50 exhibitions in India and abroad, several awards including that of Bombay Art Society punctuating her artistic activity since 1979, Shobha is reaching for new themes, new presentations.
Insight[84], Chromatic melody[86], Rhythm and Harmony[89], The primordial shape[90], Abodes-n-Dwellings[93], legends and landscapes[95], Homage to nature[2013] , The afterglow[2014]. These are some of the prominent themes whose Glimpses are presented in this exhibition. With myriad shapes and colours, forms and styles, from minute decorative detailing to spontaneous stylistic compositions Shobha touches the core of art.
