Explore Task Rubric Scoring:
Sample Response A:
Computational Artifact (and Written Response as needed)
1 Using Development Processes and Tools: The computational artifact identifies the computing innovation and provides an illustration, representation, or explanation of the computing innovation’s intended purpose, function, or effect.
Score 1-Although the infographic was simple and perhaps a bit boring, it met the requirements.
Written Response
2 Analyzing Impact of Computing: States a plausible fact about the computing innovation’s intended purpose or function.
Score 1-Although the write-up was a bit simplistic as well, it did a good job of explaining to laypersons precisely what VR is and how it works.
3 Analyzing Impact of Computing: Identifies at least ONE effect of the computing innovation.
Score 1-The sample gave a good explanation of the effects of VR.
4 Analyzing Impact of Computing: Identifies a beneficial effect AND a harmful effect of the computing innovation. Explains how ONE of the identified effects impacts or has the potential to impact society, economy, or culture.
Score 0-The sample was a bit lacking in this regard and would have benefited from more in depth discussion of the harmful and beneficial effects beyond what was mentioned, which seemed generic and obvious.
5 Analyzing Data and Information: Identifies the data that the computing innovation uses. Explains how that data is consumed, produced, OR transformed.
Score 0-The sample gave a very basic description of how VR works and did not make it clear that the writer truly understood how VR uses the data to create the VR environment.
6 Analyzing Data and Information: Identifies one storage, privacy, OR security concern. Explains how the concern is related to the computing innovation.
Score 1-The sample met this requirement, but again could have benefited from more detail as to the privacy.security concerns.
7 Finding and Evaluating Information: Provides inline citations of at least 3 attributed sources within the written response. The citations must be used to justify the response.
Score 1-Citation formatting was a mess, but the information was there and the requirement was met.
Sample Response C:
Computational Artifact (and Written Response as needed)
1 Using Development Processes and Tools: The computational artifact identifies the computing innovation and provides an illustration, representation, or explanation of the computing innovation’s intended purpose, function, or effect.
Score 0-This was a very poor illustration of the purpose/function/effect of bitcoins. The optics were lackluster, the phrasing was too wordy, and there really was no explanation whatsoever.
Written Response
2 Analyzing Impact of Computing: States a plausible fact about the computing innovation’s intended purpose or function.
Score 1-The writer did a good job of stating facts regarding the intended purpose and function of bitcoins.
3 Analyzing Impact of Computing: Identifies at least ONE effect of the computing innovation.
Score 1-The sample gave a sufficient explanation of the effects of the innovation.
4 Analyzing Impact of Computing: Identifies a beneficial effect AND a harmful effect of the computing innovation. Explains how ONE of the identified effects impacts or has the potential to impact society, economy, or culture.
Score 1-The writer met the requirements, although the description of the harmful effects was very generic and lacking in detail.
5 Analyzing Data and Information: Identifies the data that the computing innovation uses. Explains how that data is consumed, produced, OR transformed.
Score 0-The sample gave a very basic description of how bitcoins work and did not make it clear that the writer truly understood how bitcoins work or how they mine and store the bitcoins or how they process the data.
6 Analyzing Data and Information: Identifies one storage, privacy, OR security concern. Explains how the concern is related to the computing innovation.
Score 0-The only concern discussed was about a hypothetical health or safety concern if the bitcoins were used for illegal purposes, but there was no discussion of storage, privacy, or security concerns.
7 Finding and Evaluating Information: Provides inline citations of at least 3 attributed sources within the written response. The citations must be used to justify the response.
Score 0-The citations were messy and lacked URLs.
