We also work on thin film transistors. In one of the works, we fabricated high-performance organic thin film transistors based on 6,13-Bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)pentacene (TIPS-pentacene, a pentacene derivative) using ultrasonic spray-coating. We sequentially deposited dielectric layer and semiconducting layer using this technique in air ambient to realize high-mobility thin film transistors on flexible platform, and achieved an excellent hole mobility of 0.4 cm2/V-s and on-off ratio more than 106.
In this work, TIPS-pentacene film growth was further controlled by using polystyrene based various polymer binders. State-of-the-art techniques such as cross-section transmission electron microscopy and neutron reflectometry were used to study the vertical phase morphology and how both pentacene and polymers accumulate across the direction perpendicular to the substrate.
