Welcome to the 15th San Diego Region Japanese Speech Contest! It’s so good to see so many familiar faces as well as new faces at this auditorium.
My name is Fumiko Tachibana. I’ve been representing the Contest since 2008.
Despite a lot of work to organize this event, I enjoy working for the community for the benefit of the students who study Japanese.
I’m very happy to know that this contest has motivated many of you not only to compete at the contest, but also in the way that motivates many of you to continue to do well in your careers.
Today we have 19 high school and college students from San Diego who will make speeches.
We’d like to give my special thanks to the Judges, Teachers, Volunteers, Friends and Parents who are here today.
Furthermore, we would like to extend our gratitude to the following companies for generous prize donations for the winners and contestants: Let me recognize them in the order of our acceptance: JPT America, Cheng&Tsui Publishing, Tuttle Publishing, Stone Bridge Press, for the books that they publish or sell, IACE TRAVEL for the Notebook,Sony and Kyocera International, for donating their company products, the Japan Foundation for Erin’s budges, Mitsuwa Market for the tea for the contestants.
And all of your participation and support has made this event meaningful as well as enjoyable.
Thank you very much!
