Salmon Unlimited of WI Root River Cleanup 2020

Root River Cleanup Sponsored and Facilitated by Salmon Unlimited SE WI Club

Date: 11/14/20

Hours- 8:00AM – 3PM

Apx. 25 Volunteers.

Social Distancing and Covid Safe Practices would be in place throughout the event

Target Area = Root River Weir/Steelhead Facility south to Washington Park Golf Course

Primary Goal would be to remove all large garbage (Bikes/golf clubs/misc. Furniture/garbage) from river as well as adjacent property (I assume fish would NOT be picked up/removed but advise if this not the case?)

Several Adult Volunteers would have waders and remove items from River and others would concentrate on consolidating/bagging/moving bags to defined areas for pickup (City of Racine to advise what best for them)

We are hoping we could define 3-4 pickup areas to pile up trash, and these areas be serviced by city garbage disposal for final removal

Young adults(teens) may assist in the non-water activities.

Lunch would be held for all volunteers after this effort, tentatively planned to be held at 5^th Street Yacht Club, details to follow

We do understand that all volunteers would be required to sign a release of liability form
