Once Radhakrishnan stated "Library is a Heart of the Institution". The quotes are extremely relevant as we are now marching towards knowledge economy where the value of information and knowledge is powerful than anything else in this world. Development is a continuous process and in academic environment the need is to keep the development to all the sectors of people. The development of the human resources is extremely important for the overall progress of the institution. The library services are the key factor in the developing human resources of the college.

—  Acquisition Section

The activities of the acquisition section involve the several function for acquiring the books and journals. It is in this section that the documents are acquired and prepared for use. The main activities here are checking of the documents received as per office order, then stamping of the ownership seals and entering of each document in a register known as Accession Register and gave a document its accession number accordingly. State Central Library maintains four different types of Access registers.

—  Processing Section

The task of the processing section includes the accessioning into the accession register, classifying the documents, preparation of call number, assigning the number into book. The main task of this section is to preparation of books to be sent into the shelves.

—  Circulation Section

The major library activities in college are in the circulation section. The circulation of books to home is by far the major service provided by the College Library. It is one of the busiest section and deals with charging and discharging of books, maintaining statistics of the total number of books issued and returned in a day, shelving of books in order in the stacks according to subjects and filing of catalogue cards. Any registered member can issues books and return the books in this section. The process and services which result in bringing users and library materials into productive relationship is the circulation section.

—  Journal Section

The journal has become the proud possessions of the library with a varied collection. The section will help the faculty to develop the knowledge and skill and students acts as a gateway to primary knowledge. This section is housed in the separate area with the display for access. The access to the journal is strictly restricted within the premises of the library. Users can consult it within the premises by using the register.

 

 

—  Reference Section

Reference section of the library holds the valuable collection of reference books for the study purposes. The reference section includes documents like Encyclopaedia, Dictionary, Yearbook, Bengali Dictionary etc. The books are used by both the students and teachers for specific purpose.

—  Seminar Library Section

The concept o seminar libraries started from . The library holds the precious collection which is operated and maintained by the departmental library. But the processing and record keeping is maintained by the central library itself. It is an attempt to make the books available to the students. The collection of the seminar library kept separately within the central library.

—  Career Guidance Section

The career guidance section is forming one of the important parts of the library. The collection includes competitive books, general subject books for the use of the students. It is expected this section will help the students encourage in the study for preparing competitive examination.

—  Stack Room

The stack room holds the proud possession of the library. The stack room is located at separate area but well connected with the circulation section and reading room.

—  Reading Room

The college has a specious reading room open for the students from the morning to night where the students can read and make their lesions. The reference facilities are available of books and journals to the students within the reading room.

—  Internet Section

            The college provides students the state of the facilities for accessing the internet or web based resources in the library. This centre is also recognized             as the E-Resource Centre. This centre provides access to the internet through nine computers to the students. Wi-Fi facilities are also available within             the library premises. Both teachers and students can avail this facilities which will help the students to develop themselves.
