Notable family members

    • Job Studley Saint (b.18 Sep 1832, d.21 Feb 1929)
    • He was a farm labourer who worked at Doles Ash Farm in Piddletrenthide, Dorset, England.
    • There are many interesting stories about him, but his main claim to fame is that he could pick up a hundredweight sack of potatoes with his teeth and swing it around.
    • Sir Sydney John Saint (b.16 Sep 1897 d.Aug 1987)
    • His research helped improve the crop yield of the sugar cane industry in Barbados from 75,000 tons in 1927 to 170,000 tons in 1963.
    • He was appointed O.B.E in 1942, C.M.G in 1946, and knighted in 1950.
    • In 1963 the Municipality of Bridgetown, Barbados bestowed on him the honour of freeman of the city.
    • "Sir John Saint, who died age 89, had a profound and beneficial effect on the agriculture of Barbados where he lived and worked for nearly 40 years" [Daily Telegraph, 16 Jul 1987]

    • Frederick Charles Saint of Weymouth, England (b.1 Aug 1890 d.13 Jul 1934) - He used to bicycle around Dorset searching church records to create the initial Saint family tree. In 1909 he acquired several lists of Saints from the parish clerks in the area.
    • Mrs Doreen Tout of Bristol, England - Her extensive research and notes helped build many branches of the Dorset Saints family tree.
    • Martin Berzins of Crewkerne, Somerset, England - He provided local knowledge and a family tree that added many branches to the Dorset Saint tree.
    • Alan Coombs of Taunton, Somerset, England - He built a large Misterton Saint family tree which provided many additional branches.
    • Mrs Heather Belcher of England - She published the "SAINT Newsletter" (ISSN 1368-020x) from 1997 to 2005
