COLSA Activities

  • Monthly Meetings: We meet the second Monday of each month. The meeting usually takes place at an area restaurant or a member’s house. Check the website for streaming notice. The meeting starts at 7pm. Most members arrive at 6pm and have a meal before the meeting. The meeting always includes a special program of interest to all members in addition to the usual business meeting.

  • Race Series: See the Race Information page for a description

  • COLSA Cup Regatta: This is a six race series held over a two day weekend. On Saturday evening we reserve a table at a local restaurant to go over the days fun and stories. At the 2001 regatta we had six races and five different race winners.

  • Scow Luki Regatta: This is a one design class event for MC Scows.

  • Fourth of July Raft-up: With the committee boat serving as party central, the cabin boat sailors raft up to view the fireworks displays.

  • Run the Lake: Sail the length of Crab Orchard Lake and have a BBQ upon return to the marina.

  • Moon Light Sails: When the weather is perfect and the moon is full, why not go sailing. We usually gather at the shelter and head out around dusk. First ones back in build a fire and we sit and roast marsh mellows way into the night.....

  • Launch and Haul-Out Days: The hassle of man handling the mast, backing down the boat ramp and all that gets simpler with a little help from your COLSA friends. Various members supply equipment to make this task even simpler. A chili dump occurs after the work is done.

  • Annual Meeting: Great food, speakers, awards. elections and pictures of the year's COLSA activities.

  • Inter-Club Regional Regattas: COLSA members always like to travel as a group to other clubs such as the Carlyle Whale of a Sail regatta. Due to the growth of COLSA MC Scow Fleet 88 fleet members are also beginning to travel to regional and class sanctioned events such as the Mid Winters, the Scowabunga and Polar Bear regattas.
