Just A Bit Nervous Tonight
First night for this year's dart league and I thought all was set but the most recent email I got tells me that perhaps not. A number of weeks ago Jason told me that he would not be able to make it on the first dart. We are going to miss having one of our best dart players with us but we will get along fine. Josh tells me that he has a class going on so he will not be able to make it for the first dart night. O.K. we are fine, it won't be as much fun with out the two of them but we will still have a good time and should do fairly well. After all we will have Brian, Heather, Mike, Daniel, Riggs and myself. I am uncertain about Riggs's throwing ability but he will be entertaining and will probably throw well if we need him to sub for us.
No, I guess no Riggs. Without Rock coming Riggs has no way to make it to the match so he will see us next time. Well our group is getting smaller but I will have a fun evening with any of the group that is there. Oh, don't forget about Lonnie because he can't make it either. Now wait a minute; let's do roll call. Brian, Heather, Mike, Daniel, and myself. No, now I am not sure what Daniel is doing because Mike needs a ride from Daniel's to the dart match. Does he have to work security at the Beach? Pica, what the hell are you doing tonight, I wondered and decided not to count on him. Well, at least we still have 4 out of the 9 people on the team. But this morning I received an email from Heather stating she probably won't be there tonight.
I am just a bit nervous tonight. Three members of the team left out of nine and I have no place left to turn. My only hope is Pica will be there other wise we will be short one player. No problem for after all it is the place where we once started the season with only three players and still won the dart meet.
Pulling up to Pica's place I find both Daniel and Mike. "Pica, are you going to be able to play tonight?" Daniel answers, "Sure." Great, relief has just been lifted off my mind; but before I turn my thoughts toward the darts for the evening I am curious what Pica had been doing all day. He tells me he went to the Indiana Police. "What," I asked? "Yes," he returns,"I went to the Indiana police to see my immigration liar. Translation to the rest of you is he went to Indianapolis to speak to an immigration lawyer. It all comes down to Daniel coming back to America by way of becoming a Canadian. I don't understand it but it sounds just the way something like this might work.
So Mike, Daniel, and myself walk into Ma Ma Connie's to find 2 other dart teams seated trying to figure out how the dart league works. Neither group knew how to set up the computer for the game, how to fill out the score sheet, or even that they needed some quarters for the machine. Who ever plays these two teams through out the year should come away with 11 or 12 games. I hope these two teams have fun this year because they are not going to be winning too many games.
Oh, just great! It is the Ma Ma Connie's dart team, that we are playing tonight, that has the lady who loves to hang on me. I don't know who this lady is but she seems to know me and of course, as all women, cannot resist me.
Brian comes into the bar and it is good to know our top player is there and ready to play. I met him at the bar, ready for my second MGD, and Brian says, "I guess you know why Heather is sick and could not make it tonight?" My response, "She is pregnant?" Yes, dart fans, Heather is going to have a baby! This is so cool... I realize right away that we might not see as much of her this season, but this is just so great that they are expecting. I'll take a pause here to congratulate Heather and Brian on this wonderful news.
Well, the night went along fine. Brian had an average of 3.0 and Daniel did very well himself. Mike and I did very good too, but by the time the last game came around, we were just a bit drunk. We didn't win that last game and I am sure a good part of it was due to the many drinks I had imbibed and or guzzled. O.K. so next time slow down on the drinking, a little. We won 11 out of the 12 games that evening to the top Ma Ma Connie's team and are ready for a great season.
