The RUGHOOPUTH lineage in Mauritius

Indian Rughooputh (373803), son of Healaul, came to Mauritius from Bulloah (village), Arrah (district or zillah), India on 10th August 1874 accompanied by his wife (Tataree) and his two sons namely Sewrutton (374219) aged 11 yrs (death 7 August 1945) and Ramrutton (374170) aged 6 yrs. They came aboard Malda (ship no. 1258) which left Calcutta on the 23 July 1874. They landed at Quarantine on the 20 August 1874. More children were born in Mauritius - surprisingly all boys - six of them!!!

It is to be noted then that the Seeruttuns and the Ramruttuns of Palma are from the Rughooputh lineage.

Minor differences in their name declarations have cropped, which unfortunately will persist with time (e.g. Raghooputh, Ragooput)
