H/T to Nate Johnson and Mike Mott for presenting an overview of midge fishing at the November 2012 general meeting. In local stillwater hatcheries fly fishers midges (chironomids) are an important trout food source. At certain times of the year it provides up to 80% of a trout's diet. That is why it pays fly fisherman to learn and apply the techniques for midge fishing.
