The Gi Resistance has formally requested aid from adventurers of the Realms in scouting out Risen Kingdom encampments, troop movements, patrols, and other activities in the weeks leading up to the coordinated war campaign to reach the void portal between Gi and Morodyne. Depending on the nature of the mission, some may have time windows in which they must be completed. Others may have value even if completed the week before the start of the war.
Those who passed Col. Robert Vinsin's class on stealth and survival at the Knights of the Sable Dragon's Training Day or have participated in a successful scouting mission are qualified by the Resistance to lead missions.
These missions are self-driven undertakings carried out between events. Players must form a group, travel to the real-life location, follow the rules we provided, and take a photo of the token we have placed. Then, collect the token and report back to us using the form below.
RK Staff has hidden natural-materials markers along trails accessible to the public.
Players of qualified scouting party leaders will receive email notice when a new target is available. The email will contain GPS coordinates for a trail head/parking/starting location and GPS coordinates for the position of any markers.
Scouting Rules
Scouting parties must have at least 2 people and no more than 8 people, and one must be qualified via training or previously successful scouting mission.
The scouting party leader must respond to the email notice for a target with the date, time, and list of party members before setting out, and follow up with notice of success or failure after everyone has safely returned.
For a mission to succeed, the scouting party must:
take and submit at least one photo with the marker's Risen Kingdom symbol clearly visible from as far away as possible
not interact with non-scouts for more than 10 seconds
not be observed by taking photos of the marker by non-scouts
collect the marker after taking photos to return to a member of RK staff
A mission will fail if the scouting party is unable to satisfy all the requirements of the Scouting Rules. If the marker was already collected before failure, still turn it in. If it wasn't collected yet, leave it for another scouting party to make an attempt.
We recommend you do not wear garb, in an attempt to draw no notice from the "native Gidan passerby." The goal here is you get to enjoy a nice walk somewhere in New England while doing something to aid players at Rise of the Gi-sistence in July.
Please report successes and failures to the Crimson Path mailing list.
If you are interested in participating and are not a qualified mission leader, you can ask around in Realms community spaces to coordinate with folks who are already qualified via training or accompanying a qualified mission leader on a successful mission.
Unstable Hill
May 12, 1024 - Concerning Pylon
Fern, Liana, Styx, Diamond, and 404 successfully investigated a strange magical pylon that was built near a Gidan village.
May 18, 1024 - Collapsed Tower
Omri, YPNN, Jean Baptise, and Cimone were able to uncover the circumstances of a longstanding enemy tower that toppled over for a previously-unknown reason. They had one close call with a patrolling Risen Kingdom officer, but managed to maintain their cover.
July 5, 1024 - Mystical Sludge
Fern, Orion, Cressida, Alpacasaurus, Eamon, Omri, and Jean Baptise scouted along what the locals consider to be a "river" to observe a sludge harvesting operation run by enemy forces.
July 5, 1024 - Fell Woods
Fern, Orion, Cressida, Eamon, Omri, and Jean Baptise made it out to a decrepit forest that sprung up seemingly overnight, and still managed to look ancient and haunted. It's unclear to what purpose the enemy will put this twisted timber, but it surely isn't going to be turned into anything resembling regular construction materials.
July 7, 1024 - Treacherous Slide & Cracked Creek
Following the success of the Mystical Sludge and Fell Woods double-mission, Fern, Eamon, Omri, Grarr, and Tony set out to handle another two missions to the southwest of Praespero. There was a surprising dearth of enemy forces, and this route may provide a shortcut to the Morodyne Portal.
July 11, 1024 - Corrupted Glade
Racing against the oncoming long night of Gi, Jean Baptise and Tirvanel managed to make their way to a distant industrial forest to determine more of the enemy's resource production apparatus and how best it might be disrupted.
July 17, 1024 - Wetland Market
Ypnn, Bogen, Vesper, Tarnisha, Mandolin, and Margaret scouted out a pop-up market that's run in a marshy area prone to flooding. It seems like it might be a viable source of supplies if logistics get tricky during the campaign.
July 18, 1024 - Concerning Wildlife
Jean Baptise, Cookie the Large Dog, Margaret, and Tirvanel looked into reports of strange creatures that might pose a risk to the Resistance and their allies as they move across the landscape. As best they could tell, the reports were likely just some regular Gi-ant bears being feisty about territory.
July 20, 1024 - Sparklestone Hill
Fern, Eamon, Vesper, Nos, Ypnn, Bogen, Jean Baptise, Cookie the Large Dog, and Tirvanel made their way up into the foothills of the eastern mountain range to investigate reports of flashing lifhgts from the local Resistance. It turns out the hill is covered in stones that are very reflective, and occasional rockslides likely caused the reported flashes.
July 21, 1024 - Forked Scaffolding & Globular Construct
Kalashai and Kas ventured to a place where voidlings were in the process of building some sort of structure that diverged diagonally at the ground, in the shape of a "v". On their way back, they also spotted a column of enemy troops marching around a strange, large, slightly squashed ball. It was hard to get a good look, but it seemed to be propelling itself in some fashion.
July 22, 1024 - Unstable Hill
Fern, Jean Baptise, Cookie the Big Dog, Styx, J'ortsa, and Omri made their way south to get a better look at civilian and enemy movements in and out of the capitol city. Despite one long moment of worry when a small disturbance of rocks sliding down the hill drew the attention of some soldiers, everyone made it back safely with some valuable intel.
