Lab Project - Sleuth - Full Drafting Package Due Friday April 10, 2020 12 midnight

Packet must include:

    1. Ground Plan
    2. Section
    3. Elevations
    4. Details Sheet of moldings treatments etc
    5. 3 3d modelled views of the set
    6. one 3d view colored/rendered

All USITT drafting conventions need to be used .

Course Description

This course is designed to introduce you to Vectroworks and its various applications in theater. Vectorworks is an immense and complicated program. Realistically it would take a person years to become accomplished in all of the intricacies of the program. So this course is designed to do two things, jump start you on the basics of the program and teach how to find resources and best practices to self-train yourself.

Materials Needed for Class:

  • Laptop
  • Vectorworks program which can be downloaded from the VW Website
  • Note Taking device or pen and paper
  • Scale Rule

Course Objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand the VW interface for drawing shapes in 2d and 3d
  • Utilize layers in organizing draftings.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of theater drafting symbols per USITT guidelines
  • CAD a 2d ground design package including ground plan, section, elevation
  • CAD a 3d set
  • Use viewports to create a complete drafting package
  • Understand file saving protocols and work flows
  • Share draftings through a variety of means including Google email and print

Attendance and Participation

  • Attendance is a key component of being successful.
  • Especially when you are learning a subject like CAD where there are a lot of tricky components.
  • The more you show up the better you will do, it is a one to one correlation.
  • If you cannot make class please let me know ahead of time. We will endeavor to record the class so you do not miss the materials.

Grading

  • To get an A you must turn in the project ontime.
