Well, it's been a while since we've done one of these, but hopefully they'll be something to catch your interest as we go along.
We've never ventured into SE Asia very much, apart from the usual stopovers in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, so we decided it was about time we did so.
This trip has been in the planning for about 12 months after we had decided on the destination(s). For a number of reasons, we didn't want to spend huge amounts of time in airports getting from city 'A' to city 'B', nor did we want to drive in SE Asia, Likewise, neither of us are smitten with weeks' long bus tours so suddenly the idea of a train trip sounded interesting. A bit of research in Mr. Google's compendium found an Australian company that does rail tours of Vietnam, and that's where we started.
At this point I'd like to give a big THANK YOU to Frank of Franko's Rail Tours of Vietnam. Frank, you delivered more than we could have hoped for, and we had a fantastic time!
The current plan is to see parts of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos over about 4+ weeks with a few days R&R in Singapore on the way home.
We hope you'll enjoy the journey!
Love,
Chris & Sue.
