Tommaso Roscilde - Theory of Quantum Matter

I am a physicist, working on condensed matter theory. I am particularly fond of complex quantum systems, in which strong interactions compete with strong quantum fluctuations, giving rise to surprising phases of matter at the macroscopic level.

My research interests are in particular:

- strongly correlated bosons and fermions in optical lattices;

- quantum magnetism;

- disorder effects in quantum many-body systems;

- entanglement in many-body systems;

- numerical methods

(quantum Monte Carlo, exact diagonalization, etc.)

formed Groupement de Recherche "Atomes Froids"

Sept. 2012: Our paper on theory and experiment of the Bose glass appeared in Nature (issue of Sept. 19th 2012).

It is a collaboration with the Los Alamos National Laboratories, the University of Florida, the University of São Paulo, the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Physics, Rice University and the University of Southern California.
