One-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell conducted a one-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights on 3rd March (Tuesday) from 1.30-4.30 in Lecture hall 3. The workshop started with registration at 1.30, followed by “Introduction to the workshop and update on the IPR cell from IIT Ropar” by Dr. Prabir Sarkar. At 2 PM, Ms. Divya Kaushik, Scientist, PSCST delivered a talk on “Overview of IPRs & Role of PIC, PSCST”. She discussed various kinds of intellectual property rights that one can apply. Later, she provided some interesting case studies of IPRs. She discussed about patent, trademarks, design registrations, and copyrights. Next, talk was by Mr. Kulwinder Singh, Project Scientist, PSCST, who spoke on “Procedure for Patent Filing”. He discussed about the details of filing Indian patents, fees involved and the process. Both the speakers encouraged to file more  IPRs. The workshop was concluded by Dr. Srikant Padhee, IPR representative of SMMEE with thanks giving and memento distribution.

Students, staff, and faculty members attended this workshop.  Prof. Sridhar, Registrar of IIT Ropar has also attended this workshop. The workshop was useful to those who are interested in learning about IPRs or are interested in applying for any of the IPRs, such as, patents, copyrights, and trademarks.
