Welcome to my homepage.  Starting in September 2023, I will be joining the UCLA School of Law - Empirical Research Group as Senior Statistician.  I will be working with faculty, administrators, and research assistants on matters related to research design, data collection, and data analysis.

Prior to this, I earned my PhD in Political Science from Florida State University (2013).  I then worked at New York University Abu Dhabi for ten years, conducting independent research, mentoring capstone (senior undergraduate) students on year-long projects, and either teaching or supporting research methods courses.  I helped to establish the Social Science Experimental Laboratory at NYUAD and trained students (like the ones below) in experimental design and execution.

My specialty is in American Politics, with a focus on voting behavior and collective action.  With respect to the latter, I am interested in the nastier side of other-regarding behavior: cheating, spite, discrimination, and changing rules to target opposition groups.  I strongly believe in using the right tool for the right job, so I work with observational, survey, experimental, and "big" data, depending on the question.  I am proficient with both R and Stata.
