I am a co-maintainer of the unofficial Transifex page of Audacity.
Because the Audacity project on Transifex is unofficial, translations are NOT automatically sent to the Audacity developers, that's why:
Every translator is responsible to submit their own translations to the Audacity translators mailing list.
Before requesting a new language, you should send a mail to the Audacity translators mailing list (you need to be a member, please apply here).
Why?
It is possible there is an existing translator that is active on a different platform than Transifex.
The mailing list is the only official channel for translators and submitting translations.
Resources (.pot files) are imported and updated automatically in the Transifex project. You don't need to manually look for updates.
There are 3 different "levels" (roles) on Transifex:
coordinator (highest level, ability to add and remove users and change roles within a language team. Can also do anything a reviewer and translator can)
reviewer (has the ability to review translations, marking them as reviewed, preventing translators to further edit existing translations)
translator (can translate all unreviewed strings)
The Transifex project contains different "resources".
The "Audacity master" should be the main one to keep up to date!
Resource "Audacity master": is the continuous updated version based on the Audacity source code (master branch). This resource is updated from Michele Locati's Github because Audacity itself only updates when a string freeze happens.
(Sometimes) resource "Audacity release x.x.x" will be available to translate. This is because Audacity is using separate branches for new releases. If this one becomes available, it should be translated with priority.
