Teaching

"If you can't explain something in simple terms, you don't understand it well enough"

I am committed to delivering high quality, innovative teaching. My main areas of teaching expertise are Microeconomics, Competition Economics, Industrial Organisation and Game Theory. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I also provide a very small amount of private tuition (individually or with small groups of students) in Economics, primarily at University Level but also at A Level. This can be "in person" or online. Please contact me for availability.

Learning & Teaching Staff Seminar on "Lecture Highlights"

In 2018, I pioneered the introduction of "Lecture Highlights" within the Management School.

Below is a recording of the informal staff seminar on the use of "Lecture Highlights:" An alternative to lecture capture that improves student learning, engagement and satisfaction.

External Teaching

I have acted as a tutor on the Liverpool Scholars Programme, which enables students in the region surrounding Liverpool to gain experience in completing university standard academic work and encourage their progression to University.

In 2014, I developed a non-technical approach to basic calculus for students with no prior maths background, who are only required to apply the basic tools of calculus when covering a non-specialist economics programme.

I have also deliver "economics taster sessions" and "economics revision sessions" in sixth form colleges/schools

Outside of academia I have also worked as a ski instructor in Switzerland.
