Portland Reunion 23 April - This was a good night - BZ to Steve who is considering a repeat for Sep 17
"Dear Friends,
Tim and Don have now passed the baton to Dave and
I and we sincerely hope that we can maintain the association in the years
ahead. We are grateful to them and
officers past, for their time and dedication to RATCOs and we are particularly
pleased that John Heath has agreed to keep hold of the purse strings. Our
immediate task is to refine contact details so that we can ensure there is a
robust network for exchanging information about significant events. Then we would like to determine what members
would like from the association. As the
festive season is almost upon us I don’t expect a swift response to this
question but would be most grateful for considered thoughts, from all those we are
able to reach, sometime in the New Year.
As far as meetings and activities are concerned I offer some suggestions
as food for thought:
·
Maintain
the status quo with an annual formal dinner
·
Vary
the periodicity for the above
·
Traditional
Ladies Night in a Wardroom (probably quite expensive)
·
Smaller
informal lunches/dinners (regional Cornwall/Midlands)
·
Visit
to: RNAS/ATC facilities/RN Historic Flight/FAA Museum/etc.
·
Yeovilton ATC Reunion
·
Culdrose ATC Reunion
Whilst you muse with what RATCOs might do for you,
there is the obvious corollary, what you can do for us and your small committee
would be most grateful for any offers of assistance to organise gatherings, as
required. However, our primary need is to
establish what you want, so please do come back to us in the New Year.
Regarding communications, email is best for most,
Dave davidbrocklebank53@gmail.com will be the
mail guard for all outgoing committee notes but please copy John ams23@btinternet.com and I for all
incoming mail so that we are equally well informed. Please also mention any
views you might have on other media we might use; website/facebook/etc.
We would also like to take the opportunity to
re-circulate details of a Portland Reunion organised by Steve Haseldine and Tim
Brown, the deadline for which has been extended to the end of the year. Please see more information here: www.facebook.com/RNATC and the
attachments to the e-mail carrying this note. The three of us wish you and your
families a very Happy Christmas.
Yours Aye,
Paddy White"
