The workshop will take place at Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA), in via Bonomea, 265, 34136 Trieste, Italy.
All the talks will be in ROOM 005 (ground floor).
Below you can find some hint to plan your travel. Have a look also at this page for more detailed information.
How to reach Trieste
Trieste can be easily reached by plane. The closest airports are Trieste (approx 40 km), Venice (approx 150 km), and Treviso (approx 150 km).
Trieste airport is very close and is an easy solution. From Trieste airport you can book a cheap car transport to the center with Science Bus. Alternatively, you can take a bus to Trieste train station (number 51). The bus runs approximately every hour (see timetable here), tickets should be bought at the airport.
Alternatively, you might prefer to travel through Venice airport. This would be probably the best choice if you want to spend the weekend after the workshop in Venice. Notice that from Venice airport you should take a bus to Mestre train station, where you can get a train to Trieste.
Treviso might be a good choice if you travel from Europe using Ryanair.
How to reach SISSA from Trieste center by bus
SISSA can be reached from the city center by using bus 38 which leaves from Via Galatti (in front of Piazza Oberdan, see map) and stops just opposite SISSA main entrance. Find the updated schedules for all the bus routes on Trieste Trasporti website (www.triestetrasporti.it). This utility allows you to check bus routes (linee) and to plan the journey (calcolo percorso). Tickets must be purchased beforehand at newsstands or tobacconists or tickets machines on Trieste streets and must be validated using the machines on the buses. There are single-run tickets, 10-run tickets or transit pass (biweekly, monthly, for the whole buses transport system). It's not possible to buy tickets on board.
Notice that bus 38 is very crowded in the morning. For this reason, we arranged a supplementary bus for the participants to the workshop, that will depart at 9:10 (Tuesday) or 8:50 (following days) - see program. If you are at the bus stop of 38 ten minutes in advance, some of the students/post-doc helping in the organization will bring you to the supplementary bus. Notice that you should buy tickets beforehand anyway (same as for the public line).
How to reach SISSA from Trieste by car (speakers only)
Follow indication on maps. If you are not used to steep roads, avoid "via Bonomea" and follow "strada Nuova per Opicina" (longer but less steep). When you arrive to SISSA, ring the bell and they will let you enter the parking. Tell that you are here as a speaker for a workshop. Keep the right lane to enter the correct parking.
In case you are not used to drive in Italy, notice that blue lines mean that you should pay for parking, and white lines (rare in Trieste) means that parking is free.
