Ryan McLaughlin Engineering

About Me: My name is Ryan McLaughlin, and I am a senior at Drake High School. Outside of school I like to play baseball and build things. I got my first LEGO set when I was 5 and ever since that building things whether it be with LEGO or something else has always been a big hobby of mine. This is my fourth year in the Drake Engineering program, and it is one of my favorite classes. I am taking engineering because I love trying to find engineering solutions to challenging problems. Through this class I hope to gain many new skills in design and fabrication.

Above is a picture of the electrically powered vehicle that I built with a team of two other students while working in the Engineering Projects class. The interesting part of this project was learning about the design of multiple systems with a vehicle such as drivetrain, brakes and steering.
